1.System Summarize
The elevator becomes more popular with the social development.
It is used as a vertical transportation vehicle. People now
attach more importance to its security.
The inspectors usually detect the elevator¡¯s condition of the
time when they perform a routine check for an elevator. But they
have no way to know what kind of problem and which type of
malfunction the elevator has a certain period of time ago. So
the inspectors can not reach a comprehensive judgement to the
elevator¡¯s actual running state. Some intermittent and
accumulative hiding problems can not be found and will not be
eliminated in time. These problems will finally lead to severe
elevator operation failure, even operat accident and big loss.
The Elevator Running Data Recorder System is specially designed
to solve this problem. This system can monitor and record the
elevator¡¯s running state in real time. When the elevator has
light or short moment malfunction, it can judge what kind of
malfunction it is and will store all the information in the
built-in RAM. After making an analysis to the elevator running
data in a period of time, the elevator managers can have a
through understanding on the elevator¡¯s actual running condition
and malfunction points, including its running time, startup
times, malfunction time and duration, malfunction type etc.
Based on the Data Recorder statistics, the mangers will know
when the malfunction frequently happens, and which type of
malfunction happens most, which type of malfunction will lead to
big problem. So the mangers will get a comprehensive judgement
on the elevator¡¯s running condition and will take proper action
to check and repair the malfunction parts, to eliminate the
hidden trouble. This is the most effective and economic way to
solve the elevator problems. This Data Recorder can reduce the
chance of elevator malfunction or running accident.
Based on its high performance micro chips, big capacity
memories, highly reliable fault-tolerance communication
protocol, full-function management software, the Elevator
Running Data Recorder system integrates the functions of
elevator file management, running data recording, malfunction
warning, malfunction recording and statistic analyzing. It can
record elevator self-check state, real date and time, elevator
running state including self motion, check and repair, power cut
etc, malfunction warning, malfunction time, malfunction type, no
fault run time, daily running time and cycles. The system is
also capable of system statistics, data communication, data
print out. When malfunction happens, the system will send
warning mobile phone message to inform elevator managers and
corresponding units.
The design of strong aluminum alloy shell and double-faced PCB
mount technics enhances the recorder¡¯s ability in resisting
moisture, high temperature, vibrations and shocks.
The recorder only can be installed inside the elevator control
engine room. All running data will be collected from the
elevator control box and cabin.
The application of the elevator running data recorder will
surely enhances the management of elevator daily running,
improve running efficiency, prevent accident and ensure
passengers¡¯ security. If the elevator runs failure or even has
an accident, the recorder will provide reference data to the
administrative units for analysis.
2. System Components
The elevator running data recorder is composed of 2 parts,
namely the hardware and its administrative software.
The hardware includes data collecting circuit, information
processing unit, memory, data communication ports circuit and
GSM/GPRS wireless communication module. Among them, the
information processing unit is connected respectively with data
collecting circuit, memory, data communication ports and
wireless communication module. The 18 data collecting ports are
connected with elevator control box and the cabin respectively.
2 data communication ports can be connected to administrative
computer software system through USB disk or COM ports. The data
collecting circuit collects every running data from the control
box and cabin, then sends them to the information processing
unit. The information processing unit will judge if there is a
malfunction or not based on the signals information and their
interrelations, and will store all the data and malfunction
information in the memory. When the recorder detects one
elevator running failure, it will automatically send mobile
phone short messages to 3 elevator managers through GSM/GPRS
communication module and mobile communication network, to inform
them the situation. Meanwhile the recorder will send malfunction
information data to its monitoring platform, so that the
manufacture and the users can have a comprehensive understanding
about the elevator¡¯s working condition and decide whether to
keep it work or not. When the elevator has a malfunction, the
managers will get the information in time and will take
efficient measures to solve the malfunction.
This system provides a set of management software to users. The
software can perform the following functions.
1). Real time surveillance. The system can display elevator¡¯s
running state and malfunction information.
2). Record inquiry service. The user can check every elevator¡¯s
working state anytime through a network PC, including start-up
times, engine working time, no-fault working time, malfunction
type and duration, the time the same malfunction happened last
time, etc.
3). Malfunction information statistics. The system can make
statistic for the malfunction information, including malfunction
types and times in a fixed period of time, frequencies of
different kinds of elevator malfunctions, etc. It will create
different kinds of graphs and report forms in accordance with
the statistic results.
4). Multi grades and multi users management. Different users
have different rights to use the system, for example, system
setup, elevator parameters initialization or setup, elevator
working and malfunction information checking, the statistic
report forms, etc.

8. Installation
1). Select a position on the outside of the controller in the
engine room, or on the wall nearby, then fix up the recorder
with screws.
Attention, please select a position where there are no strong
shock or corrosive gas, or direct sunlight, in order to
extending the recorder service life.
2). Connect the signal cables respectively to the elevators of
designated model in accordance with the cable connection
direction form in appendix.
3). Insert the signal wiring harness plug into the corresponding
jack on the recorder.
4). To install the communication antenna plug in a position
outside the building or near the windows where the GSM network
signal level is high, and connect another plug of the cable to
corresponding jacks on the recorder.
5). To plug the power cable in electrical outlet, connect to AC
220V 50Hz.
9. Use instructions
1). After the installation, please turn on power, the green
light will be on, the recorder then start self-testing. The
first flash of the red light indicates the communication module
self-test. The second flash indicates its connection with
network. After the third flash, the data will be transferred
every 30 seconds. The system enters normal working state after
the three red light flashes, and the green light flashes 2 times
every 5 seconds. That indicates the system works normal. But
when the system is in normal working state and is also
transferring data, the green light flashes 3 times every 2
seconds.
2). Please carry out the initialization procedure before the
recorder starts working.
a. Please install the recorder¡¯s management software in a
lap-top. For instructions of the software, please refer to the
PC version of the User¡¯s Guide for Elevator Running Data
Recorder Management System. Start the system, click ¡°help¡± in
the menu, you will find the detailed instructions.
b. Connect the lap-top RS232 serial port to the recorder¡¯s RS232
port with the attached special-designed initialization
connector. Then start the software, fill in the initialization
information, and send them to the recorder.
c. Main initialization information includes
i. elevator information like name, model, register number,
manufacturer etc.
ii. change the password of manager¡¯s telephone number. The
password is 2 Chinese characters.
iii. change the password of manager¡¯s telephone number. The
password is 8 digits.
iv. The APN name column is in default. It is used for GPRS and
is unnecessary to input for the users.
v. Control center IP address or domain name. Please enter the
server¡¯s IP address where the data will be transferred to. The
default server IP address is 010.206.101.020.
Attention, if number in one section of the IP address in less
than 3 digits, please add 0 to make it to be 3 digits.
vi. The effective electric level for all the inspected
parameters.
vii. The number of Mobile phone used to receive malfunction
short message.
3). After the initialization, the system will record all
elevator running data and malfunctions during its working hours.
4). Once the recorder mainframe is connected with the lap-top,
the user can monitor elevator¡¯s running state through the
software real time surveillance function.
5). The system will automatically send malfunction warning short
messages to up to 3 mobile phones, in case of malfunctions
during its running process.
The mobile phone used to receiver malfunction messages can be
designated
by sending short messages to recorder¡¯s mainframe. Here is the
way.
The manager edits ¡°password 12345678¡± on the mobile phone, and
send this short message to the recorder mainframe. ¡°password¡±
can be ¡°ÃÜÂ롱 in Chinese, and can be initialized by the manager.
The recorder mainframe will send back a short message to this
mobile phone, for example ¡°No.1 elevator 0102-060870-001400-1312
Pearl Garden¡±. This means the system has accepted this mobile
phone as manager mobile phone and will send malfunction messages
to it since on.
The system can send the malfunction messages to up to 3 mobile
phones. If there are more than 3 mobile phones which register in
the system. The system will keep the last 3 in registration.
6). The way to copy the date from the recorder mainframe is just
to insert the USB flash disk into the USB communication port,
and then copy the data. The indictor light on the flash disk
will flash quickly while copying the data. The light will stop
flashing 8 minutes later. That means data copy is finished.
The USB flash disk only can be formatted in FAT file system. If
you format it in FAT32 system, the recorder system will not be
able to read it.
The user also can connect lap-top or PC directly to the recorder
via RS232 port, and read the data directly via the software.
7). The user can read the data via the software or make
statistics after inserting the USB disk into lap-top or PC. For
use of the software, please click ¡°help¡± on the menu.
8). The user can also check the date and make statistics via the
management software network version. Just log in the website
where there is the elevator data recorder management software
network system, input you user name and password and you will be
able to upload or download data, check and make statistics.
9). The user can connect mini printer to the recorder via the
RS232 port and press the ¡°print¡± button on the recorder. It will
print out the last 20 malfunction records. We recommend you to
choose the SPRT-T II mini printer made by Beijing SPRT Co. Ltd.
Don¡¯¡¯t press the ¡°print¡± button on the mini printer.
